Main fields of research:
Dryland hydrology, rainwater harvesting, soil and water conservation • landscape ecology, fluvial geomorphology • hydrometry and hydrography.
Since 2004 starting a project within SFB 586 "Differenz und Integration" on "Mobile life-strategies in dependence on ecological resources in the North-Western coastal zone of Egypt from antiquity to islamic times" • since 1996 assignment as a junior lecturer for Physiscal Geography at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, Department of Geography, Germany • 1988–1997 short and long-term consultant assignments for Egyptian-German cooperation projects in Egypt • 1987 MSc-thesis on groundwater quality in Berlin, second Diploma in Geography • 1978–1986 studied geography, geology and cartography, photogrammetry and hydrology at Freie Universität Berlin.
