August 2002 Presentation of the research project at the international summer institute "Ties that Bind and Kin that Matter", organised by the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin • Since June 2001 Research Fellow in a project on "Everyday Life of a Bedouin Tribe between 1900 and 2000" as part of the Collaborative Research Center "Integration and Difference" at the Universities of Halle and Leipzig • Graduation 1997, PhD in July 2002 from Leipzig University with a thesis on "Approaches to the indigenization of Arabic anthropology" • Studied Cultural Anthropology (Ethnologie), Islamic Studies, History at the Universities of Tübingen (Germany), Reed College (Portland/OR, USA) and Leipzig University (Germany).
