Urban history of Tabriz • political, social and cultural history and historical geography of Iran, esp. of Azerbaijan and adjoining areas (13th – early 16th century) • Persian and Arabic historiographical, hagiographical, biographical and geographical literature (13th - 16th century) • Historical semantics, political and religious doctrines and practices in Muslim societies, esp. medieval Iran, modern reformist theology and nationalism in Algeria • Theories and methodologies in Social Sciences, History and Islamic Studies
