Dr. Azim Mannonovich Malikov is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of History and Philosophy, Samarkand State University, Uzbekistan. He has graduated in Archeology and History. His main areas of research are:Ethno-cultural history of Turkic-speaking population of Central Asia. Ethnic history and identity of the Uzbeks of the Zerafshan Valley. Issues of nation-building processes and interethnic relations in modern Uzbekistan. Dr. Malikov has done archival work in the Central State Archives of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and field research in villages of the provinces of Bukhara and Samarkand. He has published on various Uzbek tribes in the Zerafshan Valley and Khiva.
