Arabic Popular Literature • History of mentalities • History and culture of the Mamlûk Empire.

Since July 2001: researcher at the Collaborative research center "Difference and Integration" at Halle • June 2001: German-french PhD at the Universities of Halle and Aix-en-Provence (S. Leder und J.-Cl. Garcin) on the popular Sîrat Baybars • 1997–99: researcher in the DFG project: "Genesis, transmission and signification of the Sîrat Baybars • 1995–96: replacement teaching at the Oriental Institute in Halle • 1993–94: Stage annuel en vue de la recherche at the Institut Français d'Etudes Arabes de Damas • 1991–92: Stage d'apprentissage de l'arabe at the Département d'Etudes Arabes du Caire of the French Foreign Office • 1990–95: Studies of Arabic Language and Literature and Islamic Studies at the University of Aix-en-Provence (France).
